Duas from the Qur'an

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina 'adhaban-nar

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Virtue: It was the supplication the Prophet ﷺ made most often.

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka anta-l-Wahhab.

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana innana amanna faghfir lana dhunubana wa qina 'adhaban-nar

Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۚ أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana la tu'akhidhna in nasina aw akhta'na, Rabbana wa la tahmil 'alayna isran kama hamaltahu 'ala-lladhina min qablina, Rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bih, wa'fu 'anna waghfir lana warhamna, anta mawlana fansurna 'ala-l-qawmi-l-kafirin.

Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or err. Our Lord, lay not upon us a burden like that You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna 'ala-l-qawmi-l-kafirin.

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama.

Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us a leader [example] for the righteous.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmah, wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada

Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.

رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ

Rabbana faghfir lana dhunubana wa kaffir 'anna sayyi'atina wa tawaffana ma'a-l-abrar.

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous.

رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

Rabbana innaka jami'u-n-nasi li-yawmin la rayba fih, inna-llaha la yukhlifu-l-mi'ad.

Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ

Rabbana amanna bima anzalta wattaba'na-r-rasula faktubna ma'a-sh-shahidin

Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger, so register us among the witnesses [to truth].

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana-ghfir lana dhunubana wa israfana fi amrina wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna 'ala-l-qawmi-l-kafirin.

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana ma khalaqta hadha batila, subhanaka faqina 'adhaban-nar

Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ مَنْ تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنْصَارٍ

Rabbana innaka man tudkhili-n-nara faqad akhzaytah, wa ma li-z-zalimina min ansar.

Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire — You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.

رَبَّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

Rabbana wa atina ma wa'adtana 'ala rusulika wa la tukhzina yawma-l-qiyamah, innaka la tukhlifu-l-mi'ad.

Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise.

رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

Rabbana la taj'alna ma'a-l-qawmi-z-zalimin

Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people.

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa tawaffana muslimin

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].

رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ ۝ وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana la taj'alna fitnatan lil-qawmi-z-zalimin, wa najjina birahmatika mina-l-qawmi-l-kafirin

Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people. And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbi-rhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira

My Lord, have mercy upon them [my parents] as they brought me up [when I was] small.

Virtue: The supplication of dutifulness to one's parents.

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidni 'ilma

My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ ۝ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ

Rabbi a'udhu bika min hamazati-sh-shayatin, wa a'udhu bika rabbi an yahdurun

My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.

رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Rabbana amanna faghfir lana warhamna wa anta khayru-r-rahimin

Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Rabbi-ghfir warham wa anta khayru-r-rahimin

My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.

رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا

Rabbana-srif 'anna 'adhaba jahannam, inna 'adhabaha kana gharama

Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering.

رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

Rabbana wasi'ta kulla shay'in rahmatan wa 'ilman faghfir lilladhina tabu wattaba'u sabilaka wa qihim 'adhaba-l-jahim.

Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire.

Virtue: The supplication of the angels who bear the Throne, for the believers.

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ

Rabbana-ghfir lana wa li-ikhwanina-lladhina sabaquna bil-imani wa la taj'al fi qulubina ghillan lilladhina amanu, Rabbana innaka Ra'ufun Rahim.

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.

رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Rabbana la taj'alna fitnatan lilladhina kafaru waghfir lana Rabbana, innaka anta-l-'Azizu-l-Hakim.

Our Lord, make us not [objects of] torment for the disbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Rabbana atmim lana nurana waghfir lana, innaka 'ala kulli shay'in qadir.

Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.
