Duas of the Prophets

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbana zalamna anfusana, wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna mina-l-khasirin.

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Rabbi-ghfir li wa li-walidayya wa li-man dakhala baytiya mu'minan wa lil-mu'minina wa-l-mu'minat.

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer, and the believing men and the believing women.

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ ۝ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

Rabbi-j'alni muqima-s-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a'. Rabbana-ghfir li wa li-walidayya wa lil-mu'minina yawma yaqumu-l-hisab.

My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.

رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Rabbana taqabbal minna, innaka anta-s-sami'u-l-'alim

Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

Fatira-s-samawati wa-l-ard, anta waliyyi fi-d-dunya wa-l-akhirah, tawaffani musliman wa alhiqni bi-s-salihin.

Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous.

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي ۝ وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي ۝ وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي ۝ يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Rabbi-shrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul 'uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli

My Lord, expand for me my breast, and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech.

أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Anni massaniya-d-durru wa anta arhamu-r-rahimin

Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu mina-z-zalimin

There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.

Virtue: No Muslim ever supplicates with it for anything but that Allah answers him.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah, innaka sami'u-d-du'a

My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.

رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

Rabbi awzi'ni an ashkura ni'mataka-llati an'amta 'alayya wa 'ala walidayya wa an a'mala salihan tardah, wa adkhilni bi-rahmatika fi 'ibadika-s-salihin.

My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants.

رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَانًا نَصِيرًا

Rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqin waj'al li min ladunka sultanan nasira.

My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.

رَبِّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلًا مُبَارَكًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلِينَ

Rabbi anzilni munzalan mubarakan wa anta khayru-l-munzilin

My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us].

Virtue: Recommended when boarding a vessel or alighting at a place.

رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُنْ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbi inni a'udhu bika an as'alaka ma laysa li bihi 'ilm, wa illa taghfir li wa tarhamni akun mina-l-khasirin.

My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers.

رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَٰذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ

Rabbi-j'al hadha-l-balada aminan wajnubni wa baniyya an na'buda-l-asnam

My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

Rabbana waj'alna muslimayni lak, wa min dhurriyyatina ummatan muslimatan lak, wa arina manasikana wa tub 'alayna, innaka anta-t-Tawwabu-r-Rahim.

Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ ۝ وَاجْعَلْ لِي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ ۝ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

Rabbi hab li hukman wa alhiqni bi-s-salihin, waj'al li lisana sidqin fi-l-akhirin, waj'alni min warathati jannati-n-na'im.

My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. And grant me a mention of honour among later generations. And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

رَبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

Rabbana 'alayka tawakkalna wa ilayka anabna wa ilayka-l-masir

Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي

Rabbi inni zalamtu nafsi faghfir li

My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me.

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir

My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ ۖ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Rabbi-ghfir li wa li-akhi wa adkhilna fi rahmatik, wa anta arhamu-r-rahimin.

My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful.

رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

Rabbana-ftah baynana wa bayna qawmina bil-haqqi wa anta khayru-l-fatihin

Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.

رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ

Rabbi najjini wa ahli mimma ya'malun

My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do.

رَبِّ انْصُرْنِي عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

Rabbi-nsurni 'ala-l-qawmi-l-mufsidin

My Lord, support me against the corrupting people.

رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ

Rabbi la tadharni fardan wa anta khayru-l-warithin

My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors.

رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنْ بِدُعَائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا

Rabbi inni wahana-l-'azmu minni washta'ala-r-ra'su shayban wa lam akun bi-du'a'ika Rabbi shaqiyya.

My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy [i.e., left unanswered].

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

Rabbi-ghfir li wa hab li mulkan la yanbaghi li-ahadin min ba'di, innaka anta-l-Wahhab.

My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا لِأَوَّلِنَا وَآخِرِنَا وَآيَةً مِنْكَ ۖ وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ

Allahumma Rabbana anzil 'alayna ma'idatan mina-s-sama'i takunu lana 'idan li-awwalina wa akhirina wa ayatan mink, warzuqna wa anta khayru-r-raziqin.

O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.
