Protecting Yourself

Protection is not an amulet to hang or a bead to wear; it is a litany to say and a safeguard sought from Allah alone. For every door of harm He has given a door of remembrance that closes it.

The strongest: Ayat al-Kursi before sleep — a guardian from Allah remains over you and no devil approaches until morning. The two protective surahs three times, morning and evening, suffice you from everything. And 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm' three times.

The evil eye is real. Its remedy has two doors: protection before, and ruqyah after — and blessing what pleases you by saying 'Ma sha'a Allah, la quwwata illa billah.'

Three times, morning and evening 3 times

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heaven can cause harm — and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

For protection

Allahumma ihfazni min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfi, wa 'an yamini, wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi-'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.

O Allah, protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left and from above me; and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being taken unawares from beneath me.

Common questions

How do I protect myself from the evil eye?

By keeping the morning and evening adhkar, Ayat al-Kursi before sleep, and the protective surahs — and by not hanging amulets, which is forbidden.
