A parent's supplication for a child is among those not turned back: 'Three supplications are answered without doubt… and the supplication of a parent for his child' (at-Tirmidhi). You supplicate not knowing which of your words will meet an hour of response and become the cause of your child's uprightness for a lifetime.
Most Qur'anic supplications about offspring ask neither for wealth nor health, but for uprightness: 'My Lord, grant me from among the righteous', 'My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants.' That teaches us what should be asked for them first.
And beware of supplicating against your child in anger — that too is among the answered. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not invoke against your children… lest it coincide with an hour in which Allah is asked and He answers you' (Muslim).
The Qur'anic supplications, most comprehensively: 'My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication' (Ibrahim 40).
