When rain falls
اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا
Allahumma sayyiban nafi'an.
O Allah, [make it] a beneficial downpour.

Dua for Rain
Rainfall is one of the moments in which supplication is hoped to be answered. When the Prophet ﷺ saw rain he would say: 'O Allah, a beneficial downpour.' He would uncover part of his body to let the rain touch it, saying: 'It has newly come from its Lord.'
Do not let the rain fall while you are silent.
As for thunder, when he heard it he would stop speaking and say: 'Glory to Him whom the thunder glorifies with His praise, and the angels out of awe of Him.'
If the rain becomes excessive
اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الْآكَامِ وَالْجِبَالِ وَالظِّرَابِ وَبُطُونِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ
Allahumma hawalayna wa la 'alayna, Allahumma 'alal-akami wal-jibali waz-zirabi wa butunil-awdiyati wa manabitish-shajar.
O Allah, around us and not upon us. O Allah, upon the hills, the mountains, the highlands, the valley floors and the places where trees grow.

اللهم حوالينا ولا علينا، اللهم على الآكام والجبال والظراب وبطون الأودية ومنابت الشجر
After the rain
مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ
Mutirna bi-fadlillahi wa rahmatih.
We have been given rain by the grace of Allah and His mercy.

On hearing thunder
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ
Subhana alladhi yusabbihur-ra'du bihamdihi wal-mala'ikatu min khifatih.
Glory to Him whom the thunder glorifies with His praise, and the angels out of awe of Him.

سبحان الذي يسبح الرعد بحمده والملائكة من خيفته
When is it said?
- On seeing rain fall: 'Allahumma sayyiban nafi'an.'
- If it grows heavy enough to cause harm: 'O Allah, around us and not upon us…'
