Visiting the sick is not merely a visit: whoever visits a sick person remains in the harvest of Paradise until he returns. Supplication is the gift you carry, and the one that is not forgotten.
The soundest thing to say is to place your hand on the place of pain and say: 'Remove the harm, Lord of mankind. Heal, for You are the Healer; there is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind.'
And whoever visits a sick person whose time has not come and says seven times, 'I ask Allah the Mighty, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you' — Allah cures him of that illness. Seven times: not more, not fewer.
Allahumma Rabban-nas, adhhibil-ba's, ishfi anta ash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.
O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm. Heal, for You are the Healer; there is no healing but Your healing — a healing that leaves no illness behind.
Plain text (no diacritics)
اللهم رب الناس، أذهب البأس، اشف أنت الشافي، لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاء لا يغادر سقما
Allahumma ahyini ma kanatil-hayatu khayran li, wa tawaffani idha kanatil-wafatu khayran li.
O Allah, keep me alive so long as life is better for me, and take me when death is better for me.
Plain text (no diacritics)
اللهم أحيني ما كانت الحياة خيرا لي، وتوفني إذا كانت الوفاة خيرا لي
How and when
When visiting, placing your hand on the place of pain if you can.
'As'alullaha al-'Azim…' is said seven times.
The ill person places a hand on the pain, says 'Bismillah' three times, then seven times: 'I seek refuge in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and fear.'
